Bang of Computex 2024: AI-Infused CPU, AMD Ryzen 9000 Series

AMD made groundbreaking news at Computex 2024 after announcing the new AM5 9000 series processor that is about to enter the CPU market. This new-generation processor was built with higher performance, efficiency, and AI-assisted computing technology. Yes, you read it right, "AI-assisted computing."

Upgraded Zen 5 Generation

Modeled from the popular Zen 5 architecture, the AMD 9000 series was designed to meet the demand of PC builders who are after speed and processing power. The flagship of this series is the Ryzen 9 9950X, with impressive specifications (16 cores, 32 threads, and a max boost clock of 5.6 GHz), as expected of the higher series. It's geared with an 80MB cache while running on 170W TDP.

AI and CPU into One

What makes this series top-tier is not just its computing power but also its readiness for next-generation AI-infused applications. Featuring the world’s most powerful Neural Processing Unit (NPU), the Ryzen AI 300 Series processors boast up to 50 TOPS of AI processing power that can provide enough computing space to run extensive and complex AI algorithms efficiently (great help for laptops with AI's and sensors).

Beating the Odds

Compared to its competitors, the Ryzen 9000 series sets new standards in power efficiency. Most of its models offer a 50W TDP while running 12 cores and 24 threads (lower than most CPUs on the market), making AMD true to its commitment to sustainable performance.

Platform of the Future

Most of the recent high-end Ryzen processors are compatible with existing AM5 motherboards, including the 9000 series, although some might need a BIOS update for them to work. AMD utilizes technology for future compatibility that supports PCIe 5.0, DDR5, USB4, and WIFI7, making it a good investment for the next couple of years.

The AMD 9000 Series is not just an entry for a showcase of products on Computex 2024; it is a clear testimony of the company's will to adapt to the changing world of technology.

AMD Ryzen 8000 Series: A New Era of Performance

AMD tech market is making a noise after the release of its Ryzen 8000 series processors, also known as the ‘Phoenix’ series which revolutionized the computing world. This series brings together some of the best, cutting-edge AMD technologies into one unique package.

The flagship of the Ryzen 8000 series, the Ryzen 7 8700G, is a powerhouse. It is built on the powerful Zen 4 architecture and offers eight cores and 16 threads. The processor has a base clock of 4.2 GHz and can boost up to 5.1 GHz. It features a total of 24MB cache (8MB L2 and 16MB L3). The processor also includes an integrated AMD Radeon 780M Graphics which some tech enthusiasts claims to be of the same level as the Radeon RX 580 card in terms of graphics computing.

Ryzen 8000 series processors are compatible with AM5 socket motherboards. They support DDR5 memory and PCIe 4.0. If a dedicated graphics card is needed later on, the AM5 platform is ready to support that expansion.

This series of AMD CPU showcases power efficiency, particularly Ryzen 7 8700G. It delivers similar performance to Intel i5-14600K at 65% less TDP, 65W vs. 181W. Despite higher idle power consumption in chiplet-based Ryzens, the 8000 series aims to balance this with more efficient low-power states management compared to Intel.

Most of this CPU are available in Philippine market since February 2024. The AMD Ryzen 8000 series starts at $179 for the Ryzen 5 8500G. The Ryzen 5 8600G is priced at $229, and the flagship Ryzen 7 8700G is priced at $329. A little expensive compared to its predecessor, the Ryzen 7000 series.

In conclusion, the AMD Ryzen 8000 series represents a significant leap forward in processor technology, offering impressive performance, power efficiency, and advanced features. Whether you’re a gamer, content creator, or everyday user, the Ryzen 8000 series has something to offer you.
